Three convicts have been on the run since the incident
A Satkhira court has sentenced 8 militants to 13 years in prison each and 10 others to different jail terms over the series of bombings at five places of Satkhira in 2005, acquitting one accused.
Satkhira Additional District and Sessions Judge Md Shariful Islam pronounced the verdict on Wednesday.
Three of the convicts have been fugitive since the blasts rocked the five spots of the coastal district as part of the simultaneous countrywide series bombing on August 17, 2005.
The five areas are-- Shahid Abdur Razzaq Park, District Judge Court premises, Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal premises, Satkhira bus terminal and Khulna intersection. The militants also circulated banned leaflets at the crime scenes.
Public Prosecutor Abdul Latif said it took 15 long years to pronounce the verdict as most of the accused were in different jails across the country.
