The High Court requested the state to submit an explanation for why Erfan Selim who is currently in jail, should not be granted bail
Erfan Selim, son of lawmaker Haji Selim, was refused bail by The High Court earlier on Wednesday in a case filed over the attack on Lieutenant Wasif Ahmed Khan of the Bangladesh Navy in Dhanmondi in October last year.

The High Court requested the state to submit an explanation for why Erfan Selim who is currently in jail, should not be granted bail. The rule is due to be submitted in two weeks. The HC bench of Justice Jahangir Hossain Selim and Justice Md Badruzzaman gave the rule after Erfan Selim filed a petition seeking bail.
Deputy Attorney General Md Bashir represented the state at the hearing, while advocate Sayed Ahmed Raza represented Erfan.

The original case was filed on October 25 at the Dhanmondi police station by Lt Wasif. The case mentioned four of the accused - Erfan Selim, AB Siddique Dipu, Md Zahid, and Md Mizanur Rahman.
