The court, pronouncing its verdict on Monday afternoon, acquits four people in the case
A court in Narayanganj has sentenced three people to death and one to ten years in prison for killing five-year-old child Shoaib Hossain at Sonargaon in Narayanganj.
The court also acquitted four people from the case while pronouncing its verdict on Monday afternoon.
Additional District and Sessions Judge (First) Judge Sheikh Razia Sultana handed down the verdict in the presence of the accused and also fined them Tk10,000 each.
The convicts are Jasim Uddin Rana, Raju Mia and Fazlul Haque Munshi. Another accused in the case, Nasir Uddin, was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
The court acquitted Rina, Mosharraf Hossain, Abdur Rahim and Abdus Salam in the case.
In 2013, February 20, Shoaib Hossain, a first-grade student of Shantinagar Darunnajat Noorani Madrasa in Sonargaon Upazila, went missing.
Six days after his disappearance, police recovered his decapitated and charred body from the side of a building under construction in the same area, said the state council Abdur Rahim.
Nazmul Hossain Masum, the father of the child Shoaib, filed a murder case against 13 people, including Mosharraf Hossain, Raju Mia, Fazal Haque, Jasim Uddin, Shirsatali, Nasir Uddin, Ali Ahmed and Rina Begum with Sonargaon police station.
Police arrested the accused in the case, who later pleaded guilty to murdering Shoaib after abducting him. They testified under Section 164 in the court of Narayanganj Senior Judicial Magistrate Chandni Rupam, the lawyer added.
“They testified that Shoaib Hossain’s throat had been slit, after he was first abducted due to a dispute over a woman. Later, they cut off different parts of the body and burned his whole body with acid,” he further said.
