The ACC arrested the Caab official from the Dhaka airport back in December 2017
A Dhaka court on Sunday sentenced sacked Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (Caab) executive engineer Md Asir Uddin to 10 years' imprisonment in a case filed for amassing illegal wealth worth Tk3 crore.
Judge Sheikh Nazmul Alam of Dhaka Special Judge Court 4 handed down the verdict in presence of the convict in the case.
The court in its verdict also ordered to confiscate a house established on a five-decimal land in Dhaka’s Uttara, owned by Md Asir Uddin, in favour of the state.
The court sentenced him to eight years in jail and fined him Tk2 lakh in default to suffer six months more in jail under Section 27 (1) of ACC Act, 2004, while it sentenced him to two years' imprisonment and fined Tk1 lakh in default to suffer three more months in jail under Section 26 (2) of the act.
On December 12, 2017, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) arrested the Caab executive engineer from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport – who was sacked soon after – for having Tk2 crore in assets in excess of known sources of income.
Earlier on May 14, 2017, the ACC filed the case with Ramna police station against him on charges of amassing illegal wealth.
