A mobile court has sentenced two persons for practicing medicine without valid permits.
The court sentenced Md Nur Hossain for two years and Md Jahidul Islam for one year on Monday for committing the offence.
Confirming the matter, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Executive Magistrate Palash Kumar Basu said the two men were arrested in a raid conducted by RAB at Panchagar Dental clinic in Khilgaon.
“They were practicing medicine and treating people using other doctors’ registration numbers. They possess no degree on the subject,” he said.
Nur Hossain received education up to third grade, and Jahidul Islam schooled up to tenth grade, he said.
They used to write prescriptions on pads, named after a doctor named Jihan Kabir, for a long time.
“When Jihan was questioned over the issue, he said that he had told the men not to use his name for their prescriptions,” said the magistrate.
