Tangail quadruple murder: Prime suspect owns up to his part

Senior Judicial Magistrate Shamsul Alom recorded the statement of Sagar Ali under Section 164 in the afternoon

Sagar Ali, arrested in connection with the murder of four members of a family in Tangail's Madhupur upazila, confessed to his crime before a local court on Tuesday.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Shamsul Alom recorded the statement of Sagar Ali under Section 164 in the afternoon,  according to Court Inspector Tanvir Ahmed.

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Sunday evening detained Sagar from Brahmanbari in Tangail's Madhupur upazila. 

The 27-year-old Sagar, during primary investigation, confessed to his crime after he was detained, said Major Abu Nayem Md Talat, company commander of RAB-12.

Besides, Joad Ali, another suspect arrested in the murder case, was also put on a three-day remand on Monday.

On July 17, police recovered the bodies of Gani Miya, 45, his wife Kajiron alias Buchi, 37, and their son Tajel, 17, and daughter Sadia, 8, from their house in Masterpara of Madhupur upazila.

Gani's elder daughter Soniya filed a case with Madhupur police station against unidentified people on the same day.

Later in the day police took three people into custody for questioning about the murder.
