The High Court has asked the authorities concerned to provide personal protective equipment (PPE) to the physicians, nurses and all staff members of hospitals and clinics across the country to prevent contact of the Coronavirus.
Justice Md Ashraful Kamal and Justice Sardar Md Rashed Jahangir came up with the order on Sunday after hearing a petition.
The HC also asked the authorities concerned to form a committee for making a list of PPE, surgical mask, gown, shoe-cover, gloves and hand sanitizers. The committee was asked to provide the list within 48 hours.
The committee will include Health secretary, Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Director of IEDCR and Director of Central Medical Stores Depot.
The Finance Ministry has been asked to allocate money for procuring the equipment as per the list.
Advocate Ekhlas Uddin Bhuiya and two other lawyers on behalf of the Human Rights and Peace for Bangladesh filed the writ with the High Court seeking order to provide necessary equipment to the physicians, nurses and other concerned at different hospitals.
