ATU Superintendent of Police (SP) Md Mahiduzzaman confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune on Thursday

A suspected operative of banned militant outfit "Allahr Dal" has been placed on a three-day remand in a case filed under the Anti-terrorism Act with Shah Paran police station in Sylhet.

A court in Sylhet passed the order on Wednesday after the Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU) of police produced Shafiqul Islam Rana, 20, before the court.

ATU Superintendent of Police (SP) Md Mahiduzzaman confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune on Thursday.

Shafiqul, who is the head of the outfit's Habiganj unit, joined in Allahr Dal in 2008, he said.

Earlier on Tuesday evening, acting on a tip-off, a team of ATU raided Bahula area of Habiganj and arrested Shafiqul.

The ATU personnel also recovered a mobile phone, some documents and books related to extremism from his possession, Mahiduzzaman added.
