The High Court has granted anticipatory bail to 99 Chhatra Dal activists in a case filed over vandalizing a vehicle at DU during the BNP-called hartal, boycotting the mayoral polls.
Among the 99, BNP's student body Chhatra Dal's Central President Fazlur Rahman Khokon and General Secretary Iqbal Hossain Shamol also got anticipatory bail.
The bench of Justice Jahangir Hossain and Justice Md Reaz Uddin Khan passed the order on Thursday.
The court has also granted an anticipatory bail for four weeks to Chhatra Dal Dhaka University (DU) unit Convener Md Rakibul Islam Rakib and Member Secretary Aman Ullah.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir called for a dawn-to-dusk hartal in Dhaka on February 2, protesting against alleged massive vote frauds in the city corporation elections held on February 1.
Following the hartal, the BNP's student body carried out a demonstration at Dhaka University campus.
On February 3, a case was filed with Shahbagh police station against 120 named Chhatra Dal activists and 60-70 unknown others for vandalizing a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at the campus.
The Chhatra Dal leaders appeared before the court and asked for bail in this case, which the court accepted.
