The DoE has also been told to submit a report on pollution prevention and ways to improve air quality
The High Court has directed the Ministry of the Public Administration to deploy five executive magistrates within a month to the Department of Environment (DoE).
The bench of Justice FRM Nazmul Ahsan and KM Kamrul Kader came up with the order on Sunday.
The order was given after Human Rights and Peace for Bangladesh (HRPB) filed a writ in this regard.
The director general (DG) of the DoE was also ordered to submit a report on March 10, after formulating a guideline to prevent pollution and improve air quality in the country with expert help.
Adv Manzil Murshid stood for the writ petitioner while Deputy Attorney General ABM Abdullah Al Mahmud Bashar represented the state. Adv Amatul Karim stood for the DoE.
On January 13, the High Court summoned the DoE DG Dr AKM Rafique Ahammed for his explanation about the air quality of the capital and the human resource of DoE.
