The High Court has stayed the appointments of assistant teachers at the government primary schools of 14 districts for six months.
The districts are Patuakhali, Madaripur, Sirajganj, Naogaon, Chapainawabganj, Habiganj, Mymensingh, Jessore, Satkhira, Tangail, Barguna, Thakurgaon, Netrakona and Noakhali.
The High Court bench of Justice Sheikh Hassan Arif and Justice Md Mahmud Hassan Talukder gave the order on Monday.
Adv Md Asaduddin stood for the writ petitioner and Deputy Attorney General Bipul Bagmar stood for the state at the court.
Last year, on December 24, 18,187 candidates were selected for the assistant teacher posts in a result published by the Primary and Mass Education Ministry.
According to the 2013 Teacher Recruitment Guideline Section 7, 60%of the posts should be allotted for female teachers, 20% for candidates who are children of former and current teachers, and the remaining 20% for male candidates.
The guideline was, however, not followed at the time when the results were published.
Upon being deprived of getting appointed, writ petitioners Afrin Juthi and Nazmun Nahar and 46 others had appealed to the court against the result on January 19.
Earlier on January 15, another HC bench stayed the primary teachers' recruitment results of Nilphamari, Barguna, Naogaon and Bhola districts.
