Dhaka Senior Special Judge KJ Imrul Kayes passed the order on December 1

A Dhaka court has ordered to freeze 22 fixed deposit receipts (FDRs) of online news portal bdnews24.com and its Editor-in-Chief Toufique Imrose Khalidi.

Dhaka Senior Special Judge KJ Imrul Kayes passed the order on December 1.

Of the 22 FDRs, 13 belong to Tofique and the rest are in the news portal’s name.

Public Persecutor (PP) Mahmud Hossain Jahangir confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune on Sunday.

He said: “These 22 FDRs are worth Tk42 crore.”

Earlier, Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Deputy Director Gulshan Anwar Prodhan appealed to the court mentioning that the news portal editor amassed money illegally and converted them into 22 FDRs.

He said, during primary investigation the ACC found out about the alleged corruption.
