A Dhaka court has sent BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's Barrister Kaiser Kamal to jail after rejecting his bail petition and remand plea in an adultery case.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Devbrotho Biswas passed the order after Sub Inspector (SI) Awlad Hossain, also investigation officer of the case, produced him before the court on Thursday, seeking three-day remand for interrogation.
Earlier in the day, the defence counsel filed a bail petition with a remand rejection plea before the court.
The court rejected the bail petition and remand plea, directing SI Awlad to interrogate the accused for five working days.
On Wednesday night, Barrister Atiqur Rahman followed his wife and spotted her with Barrister Kaiser in front of Panthapath's Square Hospital.
Later, he filed the adultery case with Kalabagan police station under section 420 of the Penal Code, 1860.
