Justice JBM Hassan and Md Khairul Alam issued the summons on Wednesday
The High Court has summoned two individuals including the director general (DG) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) to appear before it on January 8.
DG Prof Dr Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad and Director (hospital) Dr Md Aminul Hasan have been asked to appear before the court for their failure to install intensive care unit (ICU) and coronary care unit (CCU) in all the district headquarters' (Sadar) hospitals.
Justice JBM Hassan and Md Khairul Alam issued the summons on Wednesday while hearing a writ petition in this regard.
Advocate Dr Basir Ahmed stood for the writ petitioner and Deputy Attorney General Nur-us Sadik represented the state.
Md Shah Alam, treasurer of the Human Rights Lawyers and Environment Society of Bangladesh, filed the writ.
Earlier on August 28, the High Court ordered the authorities concerned to take a project for installing 30-bed ICUs and CCUs in all the Sadar hospitals.
The court had also directed the DG of DGHS to submit a report on the details of the project.
