Seven people, including some convicts in Holey Artisan attack case, were produced before court in the morning

A Dhaka Court has fixed December 19 for the next hearing in a case filed over Kalyanpur raid.

Dhaka Anti-Terrorism Special Tribunal Md Majibur Rahman fixed the date on Tuesday, after police produced seven accused before it.

Earlier in the day, the accused, including six death-row convicts in Holey Artisan attack case, were produced before the court in the case filed over a raid conducted at a militant den in Kalyanpur area in 2016.

The seven handcuffed accused, wearing helmets and bulletproof vests, were brought to the court in the morning.

Dhaka Public Prosecutor Md Golam Sharuar Khan Zakir said: “They were produced before the court in a case filed with Mirpur police station under Counter-Terrorism Act.”

On July 18, 2019, the court took into cognizance the charge sheet submitted against 10 accused. Of them two are now on bail, and another named -- Azadul alias Kabiraj -- is on the run.

Among other accused -- Rakibul Islam Regan, Abdus Sabur Khan alias Sohel Mahfuz, Md Aslam Hossain alias Rashed alias Ryash, Hadisur Rahman Sagar, Mamunur Rashid Ripon, and Shariful Islam Khaled, were handed down death penalty in Holey Artisan Bakery attack case on November 27.

On July 26, 2016, "Operation Storm 26" was conducted at a hideout of militants in Kalyanpur to find masterminds of Holey Artisan attack that took place on July 1, 2016.

Nine militants were killed and one escaped during Kalyanpur raid.
