Rifat Sharif was hacked to death in public on June 26 in Barguna

The High Court has rejected (not pressed) bail petition of two accused, Kamrul Islam Saimun, and Rafiul Rabbi, in Barguna's Rifat murder case.

The bench of Justice Md Habibul Gani and Md Badruzzaman issued the order on Tuesday.

On November 24, the two accused failed to secure bail from the lower court.

Rifat Sharif, an internet service provider, was hacked to death in public on June 26 in Barguna, in front of his wife Minni.

The following day, Rifat’s father Dulal Sharif filed a murder case accusing 12 people.

Sabbir Hossain Nayan alias Nayan Bond, the prime accused in the case, was killed in a reported gunfight with police on July 2.

Minni was arrested on July 16 for her alleged involvement in the fatal attack on Rifat. On August 29, the High Court granted Minni bail on the condition that she would remain in her father’s custody, and would not speak to the media.

Police on September 1 pressed charges against Minni, and 23 others for their alleged involvement in the murder.

Police submitted the charge sheet divided into two segments, one for the 14 juveniles accused, and the other for the 10 adults accused.

Minni’s name was the seventh on the list of the adults accused.

She was later arrested as evidence pointed to her involvement in the killing.
