Four people, including a local Awami League leader, have been sent to jail in a case filed for gambling in Chandpur.
The accused were produced before a Chandpur court on Friday morning, and the court sent them to jail, Abdur Rakib, officer-in-charge of Faridganj police station, said, reports UNB.
The accused are -- Awami League's Faridganj municipality unit President Motahar Hossain, municipality mayor's bodyguard Billal Hossain, Anwar Hossain of Keroa village, and Mamun Hossain of Dakkhin Kachhiapara village.
Earlier, a team of police raided Faridganj Upazila Parishad Chattar on Thursday night, and arrested them for gambling, said the police official.
They also seized gambling equipment, and Tk12,000 from their possession, he added.
A case was filed against them in this connection on Thursday night, the OC confirmed.
