A college student has been serving time in jail, framed in a rape case in Tangail.
Babul Hossain Noyon, a third-year student of Government Mujib College, was accused of kidnapping and rapinga school student.
Since his arrest on September 26, Noyon has been kept at the Tangail District Jail for almost a month.
According to police and Noyon's family, a fifth-grader went missing from Chaprabill in Basail upazila of Tangail on September 21 this year.
On September 25, four days after the girl went missing, she was found by her family members near the Tangail DC Lake area. When asked about her whereabouts for the last four days, the girl told her family that she was in Cox's Bazar with a man named Noyon.
The following day, on September 26, the girl's family filed a rape and kidnapping case with Sakhipur police station, accusing their neighbour Shahjahan Ali's son Babul Hossain Noyon.

Confirming the matter to Dhaka Tribune, Sakhipur police station Sub-Inspector Asaduzzaman, also the investigating officer (IO) for the case, said: "When we quizzed Noyon in front of the prison gate, he again and again claimed innocence.
"We got a lead from the hotel's visiting card that we recovered from the victim. Then we were able to get the number which was used to book the room in Cox's Bazar. We also got a hold of the hotel's CCTV footage where the girl was taken. This allowed us to get to the bottom of what actually happened."
On October 7, police arrested, Noyon Miah, son of Faruq alias Nuh Miah from the district's Basail bus stand area and he later confessed to his crimes to the court under Section 164 of the Penal Code, Asaduzzaman added.
Expressing concern and grief, Babul's father Shahjahan, said: "It has been almost a month that my innocent son has been in jail. Framed, he was unable to attend his exams. I want the immediate release of my son."
Sakhipur police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) said: "We were able to solve the case very quickly. The real suspect has confessed to his crimes.
"I am hopeful that Babul Hossain Noyon, who is innocent, will soon be released."
Contacted, the Tangail District Jail Jailer said: "Till now, Babul Hossain Noyon has been kept here."
