A Dhaka court had granted police three more days to interrogate two accused in the Abrar Fahad murder case after expiry of their five-day remand.
Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Sayeed passed the order on Wednesday when case investigation officer Md Wahiduzzaman sought a seven-day remand for the duo, reports UNB.
The accused,Khandaker Tabakhkharul Islam Tanvir of Buet’s mechanical engineering batch-17 and Amit Saha of civil engineering batch-16 were remanded for three days while Hossain Mohammad Toha of mechanical engineering department was sent to jail.
Previously, Tanvir was put on a five-day remand on October 8, while Amit on October 11.
Tanvir was arrested from his residential hall in Buet on October 7 and Amit from the city’s Sabujbagh area on October 10.
Abrar Fahad, 21, a second-year student of electrical and electronic engineering, was beaten to death by some leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra League’sBuet chapterinside the university’s Sher-e-Bangla Hall in the early hours of October 7.
His father Barkat Ullah filed the case at Chawkbazar police station against 19 people later that day.
So far, 20 people have been arrested in connection with the murder.
