A court has sentenced four people to death in a case filed over the murder of a farmer in Kushtia, in 2017.

Kushtia District and Sessions Judge Arup Kumar Goswami gave the verdict on Wednesday.

The convicts are Md Shyamol Pramanik, 40, from Arkandi village under Bheramara upazila in Kushtia, Asmat Ali Mandal, 43, from the same village, victim Hanif Ali Khamaru's second wife Dolena Begum, and Hanif’s nephew Mukul Hossain, 38.

According to court statements, Hanif Ali was killed by the convicts on April 10, 2017.

The next day, the victim's son Aminul Islam filed a case with Bheramara police station.

After initial investigation, the police submitted a charge sheet against the four convicts, on June 15, 2017.

Public Prosecutor Anup Kumar Nandi said: "The court pronounced the verdict after all the accusations brought against the convicts were proved beyond reasonable doubt."

The court said the murder was committed due to family and property conflict.
