Another Dhaka court on Sunday also fixed November 24 to submit the probe report in a case lodged against 23 persons over alleged forgery in the design of FR Tower
Submission of investigation reports in two cases, filed over the March 28 fire in Banani’s FR Tower, has been postponed yet again.
In both cases, the investigation officers have failed to submit the reports on due date.
Since the fire, which killed 26 people, the submission dates had been deferred a number of times in the past few months.
In the first case, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Devdas Chandra Adhikari on Sunday fixed November 12 for police to submit the probe report after the investigation officer failed to file it, reports BSS.
Another Dhaka court on Sunday also fixed November 24 to submit the probe report in a case lodged against 23 persons over alleged forgery in the design of FR Tower.
Metropolitan Session Judge KM Imrul Qayes then set the new date after but investigation officer and Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Deputy Director Abu Bakar Siddique failed to submit the report on Sunday.
A total of 26 people were killed and 73 others were injured in the fire that quickly engulfed FR Tower, a 22-storey building in Banani.
Banani police box In-Charge Sub-Inspector Milton Dutta filed the first case on March 30 at Banani police station.
Tasvir Ul Islam, one of the owners of FR Tower, SMHI Faruq, the land owner of the building, and Rupayan Group chairman Liyakat Ali Khan Mukul, were accused in this case.
The matter of design forgery came into light later during investigation into the incident.
ACC filed two cases against 23 people, including Faruq and Tasvir, for their alleged involvement in building design forgery and illegally extending FR Tower beyond the permitted number of floors.
