A Dhaka court has placed Kalabagan Krira Chakra Club President Shafiqul Alam Firoz on a fresh three-day remand in a case filed under the Narcotics Control Act.

Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Sufian Mohammad Noman passed the order on Sunday, as Firoz was produced before the court after the end of a five-day remand for another case lodged against him, for possessing illegal arms.

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) filed the two cases against Firoz with Dhanmondi police station on September 21.

Sub-Inspector of RAB 2 Jasim Uddin, also the investigation officer (IO) of the cases, sought a 10-day remand afresh to grill Firoz under their custody in the narcotics case.

Meanwhile, defence lawyer Masud A Chawdhury submitted a bail petition with remand rejection prayers before the court for his client, but the court rejected the plea after the hearing.

On September 30, Shafiqul Alam Firoz, also a leader of Bangladesh Krishak League, was remanded for five days by a Dhaka court in the arms case.

Earlier on September 21, Firoz was placed on a 10-day remand by another Dhaka court in the two cases.

RAB members detained the Kalabagan Krira Chakra Club president on September 20, before raiding the club in search of a potential illegal casino.
