A case has been filed under Narcotics Control Act against Md Lokman Hossain Bhuiyan, director in-charge of Mohammedan Sporting Club.

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) handed Lokman over to Tejgaon police station on Thursday, and filed the case with the police station, confirmed RAB 2 Commanding Officer Lt Col Ashik Billah on Thursday.

Tejgaon police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Shamim-or-Rashid Talukdar said: "Lokman is in our custody now, and we are investigating the case."

Earlier, RAB raided the house of Lokman, also a director of Bangladesh Cricket Board, in Monipuripara area of Tejgaon early Thursday, and detained him.

He was taken into RAB custody for keeping illegal foreign liquor in his home without any permit, said Lt Col Ashik Billah.

After the detention, the elite force said they found the source of illegal money transaction between Lokman Hossain, and Jubo League leader AKM Mominul Haque Sayeed.

After preliminary interrogation, Lokman confessed to sending money to Sayeed, confirmed the RAB 2 Commanding Officer.

The raid at Lokman's residence came three days after another drive that shut down illegal gambling operations inside Mohammedan Sporting Club in Motijheel on Sunday.

During that raid, police had seized two roulette tables, and nine betting boards from the sports organization. They also found 12 walkie-talkies, knives, and money counting machines.
