On 27 July, 2011, locals of Charkakra union of Noakahli’s Companiganj upazila beat six robbers to death
A Noakhali court on Sunday accepted the charges brought against 28 people, including a sub inspector, in a case filed over the murder of a boy in 2011 in Noakhali.
Senior Judicial District Magistrate SM Mosleh Uddin Mizan accepted the charge sheet after scrutinizing the case dockets and other documents.
Milon, 16, was murdered by an angry mob on suspicion of being a robber on 27 July, 2011 in Noakhali’s Companiganj upazila.
Of the accused, seven are in bail now while the other twenty one including Akram Sheikh, the then sub inspector of Companiganj police station, are on run with an arrest warrant issued by the court hanging over their heads.
On 27 July, 2011, locals of Charkakra union of Noakahli’s Companiganj upazila beat six robbers to death. On that day, Milon was going to the upazila sadar from his village Char Fakira Upazila. On his way, locals caught him on suspicion of being a robber and put him into a police van. A group of police members, led by Companiganj police station sub inspector Akram Sheikh, left him to an angry mob near Teker Bazaar underthe Charkakra union instead of taking him to the police station. Later, locals beat him to death, according to the court.
