Chamber judge sets October 20 for a full bench hearing on the petition

The Newspaper Owners' Association of Bangladesh (NOAB) has filed a petition with the Supreme Court seeking its earlier order on the 9th Wage Board be vacated.

On August 20, Appellate Division of the Supreme Court scrapped the High Court order paving the way for the government to publish the gazette notification on implementing the recommendations of ninth wage board for newspaper journalists. 

Chamber Judge of the Appellate Division Justice Hasan Foez Siddique held a brief hearing following the petition filed on Monday.

The chamber judge set October 20 for an Appellate Division bench hearing on the petition.

On August 6, The High Court bench of Justice Obaidul Hassan and Justice Mohammad Ali issued a status quo on the publication of the gazette notification on the ninth wage board for eight weeks, after hearing a petition filed by NOAB President Matiur Rahman.

Later, the government filed a petition on August 8 against the High Court order.
