The High Court has issued a rule asking the government to why Tk1 crore compensation should not be given to the family of Taslima Begun Renu, who was lynched in Dhaka's Badda area.
The bench of Justice Moyeenul Islam Chowdhury and Justice Asraful Kamal issued the rule on Tuesday, after hearing a writ petition on this regard.
The court also asked 12 people, including the secretaries of home and education ministries, Inspector General of Police (IGP) and DMP commissioner, to respond to the rule within four weeks.

On Monday, the same bench gave an order to the home secretary and the IGP to inform the court within 28 November, regarding actions taken to prevent deaths of innocent people in lynching incident across Bangladesh.
On July 20, Taslima Begum Renu was beaten to death by a mob over rumors of being a kidnapper. Later, Renu's family members filled a writ with high court seeking compensation.
