The victim's family alleged that OC Osman demanded Tk1 lakh on August 2 to free the woman from their custody
A Khulna court has rejected the bail petition of the woman reportedly gangraped by policemen, including the officer-in-charge (OC) of the Government Railway police station (GRP).
Judge Nayan Biswas of Khulna Judicial Magistrate court 1 gave the order on Sunday, after hearing arguments from both sides.
Advocate Md Mominul Islam of Bangladesh Manobadhikar Bastobayon Sangstha represented the victim while Sub-Inspector (SI) Imrul Hasan represented the government.
According to the victim's brother-in-law, she was apprehended by OC Osman Gani around 7pm on August 2, at Khulna railway police station on allegations of stealing a mobile phone.
On August 3, police brought her before the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court for a drug case, with five bottles of phensedyl. The court sent her to jail on the day.

On August 4, the 30-year-old victim filed a bail petition with the district’s additional chief judicial magistrate’s court. She also filed a complaint against the policemen with the court that day.
However, when the woman was in court for her bail hearing, she said OC Osman Gani and four other policemen raped her in turns.
To verify her statement, the court ordered a medical checkup for her at Khulna Medical College and Hospital and she underwent a medical test.

On August 9, the victim filed a case with GRP against the OC and four other policemen, who were on duty during the night of the incident, on charges of their involvement in the gang rape.
Two separate probe committees, from Khulna and Dhaka, were formed to investigate the rape incident.
The probe body, formed by GRP (Pakshi railway district) started its investigation on August 6.
On August 7, police headquarters closed OC Osman Gani and SI Nazmul Haq for dereliction of duty, following allegations of their involvement in the custody gang rape.
The two probe committees formed to investigate the rape, recorded the victim’s statement at the prison gate of Khulna District Jail on August 8.
