Court issues arrest warrants against nine BNP leaders
Four BNP leaders have been asked to surrender before a lower court within six weeks, in a case filed for issuing death threat to Bangladesh JononetriPaishad President AB Siddique.
The High Court bench of Justice Sheikh MdZakir Hossain and Justice MdMostafizur Rahman passed the order on Tuesday.
The court issued the order against the BNP leaders, including its secretary general MirzaFakhrul Islam Alamgir, after hearing petitions filed by them seeking interim bail in the case.
Their counsel Sagir Hossain Lion confirmed the matter, reports UNB.
The three other BNP leaders are its standing committee members DrKhandakerMosharraf Hossain, Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury and Gayeshwar Chandra Roy.
On Monday, a Dhaka court issued arrest warrants against nine BNP leaders, including these four, in the same case.
The other accused include BNP chairperson's Adviser AmanullahAman, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General RuhulKabir Rizvi, dismissed Buet teacher Hafizur Rahman Rana and JatiyatabadiChhatra Dal leader EmdadulHaqueBhuiyan.
According to the case statement, Rana sent a letter to the plaintiff on July 23 by post, threatening to kill him.
Later, he lodged a general diary with Hatirjheel police station seeking security.
