The High Court has issued a rule asking the authorities concerned to explain as to why it shall not pass an order to ensure safe internet for children.
The High Court bench of Justice FRM Nazmul Ahsan and KM Kamrul Kader came up with the rule after hearing a writ petition on Thursday, filed by Supreme Court lawyer Md Kamrul Hasan.
The rule also asked the authorities concerned to formulate a body to monitor and block the websites with indecent contents and video games based on horror and cruelty to ensure safe use of internet for the children.
The 15 respondents, including the secretary to the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, have to answer the rule within four weeks.
