A court has sentenced three people to death and another to life term imprisonment for killing a schoolboy in Chittagong.
Acting District and Sessions Judge of Chittagong Munshi Abdul Majid handed down the verdict on Thursday.
The death row convicts are Kazi Sarwar Uddin, Shahidul Islam and Mir Hossain while Hosne Mobarak Rubel was handed the life sentence.
Of them, the court fined Shahidul and Mir Tk50,000 each, in default, to suffer one additional year imprisonment, said Public Prosecutor AKM Sirajul Islam.
He said: "The court found the convicts guilty and handed over the judgement.
"The court also sentenced Kazi Sarwar, who was in absentia, to another 10 years imprisonment for his crime," Sirajul added.
Shahidul Islam Rubel, the deceased's elder brother expressed satisfaction with the verdict.
According to the prosecution, Farhan Sakib, 15, a 10th grader, was killed after abduction in Chittagong's Mirsarai upazila in 2015.
The convicts slit Farhan's throat over previous enmity after abducting him to a forest in Nayatila hill of Chittagong on June 6, 2015.
Shahidul Islam lodged a case with Jorarganj police station accusing five people in the following day.
On November 16, 2015, police submitted the charge sheet to the court after investing the case.
