Sexual offences: Madrasa principal placed on five-day remand

A court in Narayanganj placed a madrasa principal on a five-day remand on charges of rape and numerous sexual offences on 11 female students over the past 3 years.

Narayanganj court inspector Abdul Hai confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.

Abdul Hai said the court took deposition from as many as 7 to 8 victims of rape and sexual abuse. 

Earlier on July 27, police arrested Mostafizur Rahman, Principal of Bhuiygarh Darul Huda Mahila Madrasa in Fatullah, Narayanganj, after three madrasa students brought rape allegations against their teacher.

On July 28, a victim's father filed a case against principal Mostafizur Rahman as plaintiff under Women and Child repression Prevention Act.

Later, police brought the principal before the court and sought a 10-day remand.

After an initial interrogation, accused Mostafizur Rahman confessed to committing multiple rapes and sexual offences on 11 female madrasa students including his eighth-grader niece.
