Case filed over murder in Comilla courtroom
Police have filed a case over the killing of a murder accused inside a judge’s chamber in a Comilla courtroom – while the trial of the case was in progress.
Bangra police station Assistant Sub-Inspector Firoz lodged a murder case against the suspect, Hasan, with Comilla Kotwali model police station, Inspector (Investigation) Md Salauddin told Dhaka Tribune on Monday night.

What happened in Comilla judge’s chamber?
On Monday, murder accused Faruk was chased and stabbed to death by his cousin Hasan, a co-accused in the same case, inside the chamber of Judge Begum Fatema Ferdous of Comilla Additional District and Sessions Judge’s Court 3.
The shocking incident, unprecedented in Bangladesh, raised concerns about the inefficient security system in the country’s courtrooms.
Both the judge of the court, and the legal counsel present during the trial, blamed the police personnel present in the courtroom for failing to prevent the incident, saying their negligence in duty resulted in the gruesome attack.
Later, district police formed a three-member committee to investigate the incident, with Additional SP (Comilla north) Md Sakhawat Hossain as the head.
