On June 16, the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court had cancelled the bail granted to Jasmine by the High Court

A Dhaka court has sent Hallmark Group Chairman Jasmine Islam to jail in a case of embezzling Tk85.87 crore from Janata Bank through a fake letter of credit.

Dhaka Metropolitan Session Judge KM Imrul Qayes on Sunday passed the order as Jasmine surrendered before the court and pleaded for bail, reports BSS.

The counsel of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Mir Ahammed Salam, however, strongly opposed the bail plea. After hearing both sides, the court rejected the bail plea and sent the accused to jail.
