The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court has scrapped an order that granted bail to Hallmark Group Chairman Jasmine Islam in a case over embezzling money through opening fake Letter of Credit (LC).
The Supreme Court bench, led by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain, passed the order on Sunday and asked Jasmine to surrender to the court within four weeks, reports UNB.
Advocate Mansurul Haque Chowdhury and Abdul Matin Khashru stood for Jasmine while lawyer Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan represented the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
Khurshid Alam Khan said the high court granted bail to Jasmine Islam on March 10 in a case over embezzling Tk85.87 crore from Janata Bank after opening a fake LC.
Later, the ACC filed a petition challenging the bail order.
