A special court of Chittagong Development Authority (CDA) has issued an arrest warrant against an owner on charge of constructing a three-storey building without prior approval.

Confirming the matter, Md Foyez, bench clerk of the court said that CDA Inspector Swapan Chandra Bhowmik lodged a case against the building owner with special court on March 25.
"The court granted bail to the accused. On Wednesday, the building owner submitted a petition to extend his bail. However, the court rejected the petition after hearing and issued the arrest warrant," said the bench clerk.
After the March 28 Banani fire in a high-rise office building that killed 26 people, the government emphasized on building code violations that can lead into disasters and are prudent to bring them under proper supervision. Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) formed 24 teams and deployed them across the capital city to verify building code violations at high-rises of 10 storeys or more.
