Hearing on framing of charges against the 16 accused in Nusrat Jahan Rafi’s murder case has been scheduled to begin from June 20.

Feni Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Mamunur Rashid issued the order on Monday.

The case was shifted to the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal on May 30.

Plaintiff’s lawyer, M Shahjahan Saju confirmed the development to Dhaka Tribune.

Earlier on May 28, Officer-in-charge (investigation) Shah Alam of PBI submitted charge sheet against 16 persons, including the prime accused Siraj-Ud Daula, the madrasa principal, over the killing of Nusrat, before the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Zakir Hossain.

The other accused are Nur Uddin, 20, Shahdat Hossain Shamim, 20, Maksud Alam alias Moksud Al councilor,50, Saifur Rahman Mohammad Jobayer, 21, Jabed Hossain alias Sakhwat Hossain Jaber,19, Hafez Abdul Kader, 25, Afsar Uddin,33, Kamrun Nahar Moni, 19, Umme Sultana Popy alias Tuhin alias Shampa alias Champa,19, Abdur Rahim Sharif, 20, Eftekhar Uddin Rana, 22, Imran Hossain alias Mamun, 22, Mohammad Shamim, 20, Ruhul Amin,55, and Mohiuddin Shakil,20.

The court, meanwhile, acquitted Nur Hossain, Alauddin, Kefayatullah, and Ariful Islam from the case as the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) had not mentioned their names in the charge sheet.

Nusrat had accused Feni’s Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasah principal Siraj Ud Doula of harassing her sexually on March 27, thereafter she was exposed to his extreme wrath on April 6, when she went to the madrasa to appear in the Alim examination.

A group of masked perpetrators took Nusrat to the rooftop, and set her on fire in their bid to kill her.

Nusrat succumbed to her injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in Dhaka on April 10.
