The court asked Green Line Paribahan authorities to pay Tk45 lakh to Rasel Sarkar by June 25

The High Court has expressed its dissatisfaction over the failure of Green Line Paribahan authorities to compensate Rasel Sarkar .

The bench of Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan and Justice KM Kamrul Kader passed the order on Wednesday, during a writ petition hearing.

Warning Green Line Paribahan’s lawyer Md Ozi-Ullah, the court said: "Do not compel us to become harsh."

He also told the lawyer not to consider its generosity as a weakness.

The court also asked Green Line Paribahan authorities to pay Tk45 lakh to Rasel Sarkar by June 25.

On May 15, the High Court ordered Green Line Paribahan to give full compensation to Rasel Sarker by May 22.

On May 14, 2018, the High Court issued a ruling asking why private car driver Rasel, 23, should not get Tk1 crore as compensation.

In March, the Supreme Court upheld a High Court order directing Green Line Paribahan to pay Tk50 lakh to Rasel Sarkar.

Later, in April, Green Line Paribahan handed over a cheque of Tk5 lakh to Rasel.

The transportation company paid the amount after a High Court bench gave it orders to pay at least a portion of the Tk50 lakh compensation.

The court ordered the transportation company to pay full compensation by May 22.

On April 28 last year, a luxury Green Line coach rear-ended the car Rasel was driving. The accident occurred on the slope of Mayor Md Hanif Flyover in Dholaipar, and caused Rasel to step outside of his car to assess the damage.

Although he signalled the bus not to drive away, bus driver Kabir Hossain—in his attempt to flee the scene—ran over Rasel, severing his left leg, from the thigh down, in the process.

After being informed of this, police impounded the bus and detained Kabir from near the National Press Club.
