Police  submitted a charge-sheet on Sunday, in the double-murder case of two students in a Rajshahi hotel on April 22, 2016.

Rajshahi Police Investigation Bureau Sub-Inspector,  Muhidul Islam, submitted a charge-sheet to Abul Hashem, inspector of Rajshahi Metropolitan Judge Court.

After extended investigation, the police submitted the charge sheet  against Borhan Kabir ,22, Al Amin, 20, both students of Rajshahi College, RU students Rony, 20, and Mahmud,21, hotel boy Nayan, 32, and Baktiar, 32, said Muhidul.

Abul Hashem said he did not have the file yet.

Muhidul said, on that day, Mizanur Rahman Khan, a second-year student of Islamic History and Culture at Rajshahi University (RU), and his girlfriend, Sumaiya, a first-year student of physics at Pabna University of Science and Technology (PUST), were found dead in a room of Hotel Nice International in Rajshahi city’s Shaheb Bazar area.

Mizanur was the son of Umed Ali of Ullapara in Sirajganj.

Sumaiya was the daughter of Detective Branch sub-inspector Abdul Karim of Bogra.

Mizanur’s body was found hanging from the ceiling. His hands were tied with a scarf.

Sumaiya’s body was found lying on the bed. There were stab marks on her body and her face was buried under a pillow, said hotel office sources.

The couple was not married, family sources said.

The submission of the charge-sheet had been delayed as police top brass did not give the investigating officer  a green light in this regard, sources said.

On 20 April, 2016, the two had rented a room at Hotel Nice International identifying themselves as a husband and wife from Radhanagar in Pabna.

Two days later, a hotel employee named Faisal knocked at their door but did not get a response.

Hotel authorities then informed the police who broke open the door and found their bodies, sources added.
