War Crimes: Verdict any day for Ranada Prasad killing case

Ranada Prasad Saha was founder of the Kumidini Welfare Trust.

The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has kept the Ranada Prasad Saha and his son Bhavani Prasad Saha killing case CAV (Curia Advisari Vult) meaning that the court wishes to consider the matter.

Three-member bench of International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) lead by Justice Md Shahinur kept the case CAV on Wednesday.

Prosecutors Rana Das Gupta represented the state and Gazi M H Tamim stood for the defence.

According to the prosecution, last year police arrested Mahbubur Rahman, 69, with allegations of criminal offence. In 9 June, 2018, the tribunal sent him to jail for a case of crimes against humanity.

The prosecution has filed three charges including abduction and murder of a prominent social worker Ranada Prasad Saha, arson attack, and genocide.

Accused Mahbubur Rahman hails from Boiratipara of the Mirzapur upazila of Tangail.
