Haripur police asked to submit a report within one month
A court in Thakurgaon has ordered police to accept a case filed against the murder of three persons during an altercation of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and locals.
Thakurgaon Judicial Magistrate Court Judge Farhana Khan ordered Haripur police officer-in-charge to accept the case and begin the investigation quickly.
The court order said the Haripur OC should submit the investigation report within April 11. Family members of the murdered victims and their lawyer Nurul Islam were present at court.
Advocate Nurul said three complaints were submitted by the families, one by Nazrul Islam, father of murdered Nabab, one by Md Based, the brother of murdered Sadek, and another by Nur Islam, father of the child Jainul who was also shot dead in this incident.
The complaints named then-commander of BGB 50 Battalion Lt Col Tuhin Md Masud and six other BGB men.
The complainants alleged that police had not accepted the case even after almost a month has passed since the incident.
On February 12, three persons including a child were killed when a BGB team opened fire during an altercation with locals after they had seized a number of ‘smuggled’ cows from people’s homes in Bahrampur village in Haripur upazila.
BGB filed two cases with Haripur police station. Later the families filed three complaints with the Thakurgaon Judicial Magistrate Court.
