HC to Comilla court: Dispose of Khaleda's bail plea by Feb 4

The bail petition hearing has been deferred four times

The High Court has asked the lower court concerned to dispose of by February 4, the petition filed seeking bail for BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in an arson case.

The bench of Justice Md Rezaul Haque and Justice Zafar Ahmed passed the order after hearing the petition on Wednesday, reports UNB.

Khaleda's lawyer Barrister Kayser Kamal, on behalf of Khaleda, filed the petition with the High Court on January 20.

The Comilla court deferred the case’s bail petition hearing four times, Kayser Kamal said.

On January 16, Comilla Additional District and Sessions judge Md Ali Akbar deferred the hearing on charge framing and a bail petition of the BNP chief.

It also set February 4 for petition hearing.

Eight people were killed, and at least 20 others were injured, in a petrol bomb attack on a bus at Jogmohanpur in Chouddagram upazila on February 3, 2015; during the BNP-led alliance's movement.

Two cases were filed against former prime minister Khaleda Zia in connection to this.
