Indictment hearing in 2 defamation cases against Khaleda on Feb 3

The cases were filed against the BNP chief in 2016

A Dhaka court on Wednesday set February 3 to hold a hearing on framing charges in two defamation cases lodged against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in 2016.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Asaduzzaman Noor passed the order accepting a time plea from the defence, reports BSS.

Bangladesh Jananetri Parishad President AB Siddique had filed a defamation case against the BNP chief on November 3, 2016 for dishonouring the country’s map and flag by giving the right to hoist the national flag onvehicles of anti-liberation elements.

Journalist Gazi Zahirul Islam, former joint secretary of Dhaka Union of Journalists, had filed another defamation case against her on August 30, 2016 for intentionally celebrating her "fake" birthday on August 15.
