A High Court bench issued the order on Thursday, after hearing two separate writs

The High Court has directed the Election Commission to allocate BNP’s electoral symbol ‘sheaf of paddy’ to two candidates in Manikganj 1, and Natore 1 constituencies respectively.

The order instructed the commission to allocate BNP nominated candidate for Manikganj 1, SA Jinnah Kabir’s electoral symbol, to Khondkar Abdul Hamid Dablu, and Krishak Sramik Janata League candidate for Natore 1, Monjurul Islam Bimol’s symbol, to Kamrun Nahar Shirin.

A High Court bench comprising of Justice JBM Hassan and Justice Md Khairul Alam gave the order on Thursday, after hearing two separate writs.

Advocate Farzana Sharmin Putul moved for the petitioners, while Deputy Attorney General Motahar Hossain Saju stood for the state.

Two writ petitions were filed by Khondkar Abdul Hamid Dablu and Kamrun Nahar Shirin, challenging BNP’s decision to allocate its ‘paddy sheaf’ electoral symbol  to SA Jinnah Kabir and Monjurul Islam Bimol.
