Writ challenges recruitment of CEC, 4 commissioners

The hearing is likely to be held at the bench of Justice Mainul Islam Chowdhury and Justice Md Ashraful Kamal

A writ has been filed with the High Court challenging the legality of the recruitment of the chief election commissioner (CEC) and four election commissioners.

Lawyer Delwar Hossain filed the writ with the concerned bench of the High Court on Sunday, reports UNB.

The hearing is likely to be held at the bench of Justice Mainul Islam Chowdhury and Justice Md Ashraful Kamal.

The chief election commissioner, four election commissioners, law secretary and secretary to election commission secretariat have been made respondents.

Lawyer of the petitioner Yusuf Ali said there is clear direction in Section 118 of the Constitution about formation of Election Commission but it was not followed during recruitment of the current CEC and the four commissioners.
