The BNP leader was charged with hatching a conspiracy against the state
A Chittagong court has placed BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury on one-day remand in a case filed under the ICT Act.
Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate Shafiuddin passed the order on Tuesday, after police produced the BNP leader before the court with a two-day remand prayer.
Khasru’s counsel Mofijul Haque Bhuiyan confirmed the matter.
Earlier on October 21, a court in Chittagong had sent Khasru to jail in the case.
The BNP leader was charged with hatching a conspiracy against the state and plotting subversive activities.
On August 4, Jakaria Dastagir, general secretary of the Chhatra League Chittagong city unit, filed the case under sections 57 of ICT Act and 15 of Special Power Act.
The case was filed after a phone conversation allegedly between Khasru and a BNP activist named Nowmi was leaked. The conversation about intensifying the student movement went viral on social media.
