The High Court has ordered the lower court concerned to dispose of photojournalist Shahidul Alam’s bail plea by Tuesday.
The order was passed by the High Court bench of Justice Md Rezaul Haque and Justice Abu Taher Mohammad Saifur after they heard the bail plea, which was filed on August 28.
Barristers Sarah Hossain and Jyotirmoy Barua represented the internationally-acclaimed photographer.
On September 5, the High Court ordered the authorities concerned to provide Shahidul Alam with first division facilities in jail.
Earlier, on August 5, Shahidul Alam was picked up from his residence. He was subsequently arrested on charges of using electronic media to instigate disorder in the country—and spreading fabricated information and rumours via social media, on August 6.
Shahidul was sent to jail on August 12.
