The High Court has again extended the bail of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia till October 3 in the Zia Charitable Trust corruption case.

It has also adjourned the hearing on the appeal petition filed by Khaleda in the case, reports UNB.

The bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman passed the order on Monday, said Anti-Corruption Commission’s (ACC) lawyer Khurshid Alam Khan.

The hearing on the appeal had begun on July 12 in the High Court. It had extended the BNP chief’s bail for another one week that day.

After that, the court extended her bail on July 19, July 25, July 31, August 8 and on last Monday.

A special court on February 8 had sentenced former prime minister Khaleda to five years' imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.

On August 8, 2011, the ACC had filed a corruption case at Tejgaon police station accusing four people, including Khaleda, of abusing power in raising funds for Zia Charitable Trust from unknown sources.
