A Sylhet court on Tuesday granted police an eight-day remand for Enamul Hasan, brother of Foyzur Rahman Faizul who attacked eminent academician Prof Muhammed Zafar Iqbal on March 3.
Metropolitan Magistrate Haridas Kumar passed the order after Shafiqur Rahman, investigation officer of a case filed over the attack, produced Enamul before the court seeking a 10-day remand, said Assistant Commissioner (prosecution) of Sylhet Metropolitan police Amulya Kumar Chowdhury.
Shafiqul is also the officer-in-charge of Jalalabad police station, where the case was lodged.
The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) Unit of police had arrested Emanul, with a mobile phone and a tablet that were previously used by Faizul, on March 8 from Gazipur. He was sent to Jalalabad police’s custody the next day.
The same court had placed the siblings’ parents and an uncle on remand for different terms on Sunday and Faizul on a 10-day remand on Thursday.
