The hearing for BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s bail petition has been set back by one day because the case docket did not arrive at the High Court.
The High Court had previously set March 11 as the date for the hearing. It will now pass an order on the petition seeking bail for Khaleda Zia in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case on March 12.
A bench consisting of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Shahid Karim gave the order for the date to be rescheduled.
Barrister Moudud Ahmed, AJ Mohammad Ali and Zainul Abedin were present in court on behalf of Khaleda Zia when the bench passed the order.
Zainul Abedin urged the court to set bail, saying that they have the power to do so.
The court said: “The order was for the documents to be sent on February 22. It is possible that the order did not go through.”
Afterwards, the court set the date for the hearing of the bail to March 12, Monday.
Previously, On February 22, Khaleda Zia filed a petition with the High Court seeking bail in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
