The High Court has granted anticipatory bails to 639 BNP activists in 19 cases filed with different police stations in Narayanganj, Mymensingh, Netrokona, and Comilla.
This order comes after the imprisonment of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on February 8 in Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case.

Two separate High Court benches comprising Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Shahidul Karim, and Justice Md Habibul Gani and Justice Md Akram Hossain Chowdhury granted the bails after the accused appeared before court on Monday.
Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon, Barrister Kayser Kamal, and Barrister Sanjid Siddiqui argued in favour of the bail pleas.
Barrister Sanjid Siddiqui said the court granted the anticipatory bails, till April 10, to 75 BNP activists of Narayanganj’s Sonargaon, including the upazila Chairman Azharul Islam Mannan, in three different sabotage cases filed on February 8.
Besides, the court granted bails to 447 BNP leaders for six weeks in six sabotage cases filed with Netrokona’s Kendua and Atpara police stations.
Since Sunday afternoon, 639 BNP activists from different districts got anticipatory bails in 19 different cases, confirms Barrister Sanjid.
